“We all have a story, the key is what we do with it”!
First and most importantly, Camp My Way Society acknowledges that we are on the unceeded, traditional St’at’imc Territory of the TSAL’ALH, People of the Lakes.
Tsal’alhmec, are the original caretakers of our land. We respect the wisdom and knowledge of our ancestors and take pride in our healthy self-sustaining community. http://tsalalh.net/
Our Main Goal is to Ride to The Together We Can Addiction Recovery and Education Centre where I was once a client back in 2012. Read full story here: CLICK HERE TRUTH – RIDE TO RECOVERY BEGAN IN 2012 VANCOUVER DETOX CENTRE
There is no worse feeling in the world than sitting in a treatment centre wondering how the FK I got here ? Suicidal, 60 pounds under weight, no career, depressed, no family, no friends,, no funds, hungry and with not even a single reason to take another breath on this dam earth.
With no real direction, ashamed of self, and that hopeless feeling that nobody cares or even acknowledges your existence any longer and the worst part of it all, is trying to contemplate which way to go next and why the FK do I want to go there after 30, 40 years of dead end streets, knives in your back, invisible wounds our scars so deep, unspeakable pain and sorrow, while every vein tingles unspeakable crimes, a cold hardened heart, no more tears .. there are just no more bloody tears.
I find greatness in these recovery rooms, I see the truest and strongest of warriors in each and every single one of these 60 grown men, fathers, brothers, husbands who are willing to what ever it takes, that next step forward towards digging themselves out from a deepest darkest depths of the devils belly.
I could only imagine if back in 2012, what kind of emotional impact it would have had on my recovery if 100 or so bikers ( all models of bikes ) came thundering into that alley way, parked, took off their helmets, smiled, looked me in the eyes as they shook my hand, introduced themselves to me, saying their name, asking me mine and the words, “we’re all here for you brother, we’re all proud of you and want you to know that you’re not alone and we acknowledge your existence followed with a man-shake and strong hug. Dam it sure makes my ass clinch and gives me goosebumps as I sit here and write this cause that’s exactly what our Ride to Recovery is all about.
Believe me when I say, we are all only one very small decision, incident, or event away from sitting in that exact same chair, that is if we’re lucky enough by the grace of God to make it that far.
